What is the project?
Callisto is a project aiming to collect, transport and permanently store anthropogenic CO₂ in depleted fields in the Mediterranean Sea.
CO₂ Pipelines
- Pipelines network in Fos-Marseille and Rhône Valley clusters
- Pipelines network from Bergamo - Brescia, Marghera - Padova, Ferrara and Ravenna clusters
Terminals
- In Fos-Marseille area: liquefaction units, buffer storages, ship loading facilities
- In Ravenna area: vaporization units, buffer storages, ship unloading facilities
- In Priolo-Augusta area (Sicilia) : liquefaction units, buffer storages, ship loading facilities
- In Taranto area : liquefaction units, buffer storages, ship loading facilities
Storage project
Ravenna CCS Phase 1 was announced in September 2024 with the injection of up to 25,000 tonnes per year of CO₂, captured by Eni's Casalborsetti gas treatment plant.

Fundings
Listed as of Projects of Common Interest in the Official Journal of the European Union published April 8th, Callisto will be entitled to apply for the Connecting Europe Facility Fund (CEF).
